As usual, the Holidays snuck up on us and suddenly, there they were! Here is what our month of December looked like:

Fête de Julianne, famille et amis

This year, Julianne has started attending Brownies (part of the Girl Guides Association), and she absolutely adores going every week, singing songs, making crafts, doing experiments, earning badges and most especially, belonging to a group! Katrine, her sister Natalie, their mother Carolyn and their aunt Lu were all in the Brownies and Girl Guides, and Julianne even brought photos and memorabilia to a recent Brownie meeting to show the other girls, many of whom also shared similar items. Julianne had her official Enrolment ceremony recently, to welcome her to Brownies. Parents were able to attend and we tried to take some photos, but it wasn't easy to do. You can see that she had to walk down a path and then shake hands with the group leaders.

For her birthday, Julianne decided that she wanted to go bowling with her friends. We went to a nearby bowling alley to play (small-pin) bowling and to eat hot dogs and of course, cake! Some of the girls were quite talented at bowling, who knew?

We ate our lunch and then came home to open presents and play outside. As you can see, Julianne was spoiled by her friends!

Sometimes things come in pairs! The following day, we went to another family party with Nick's two brothers, their families and some cousins from both sides of their family. This is a November tradition started by Louise many years ago, to have a sort of early-Christmas, late-Thanksgiving party for those who will not be around at the Holidays.

It was so wonderful to see Sébastien and Geneviève and their girls, Camille and Charlotte as well as cousins from the Casgrain side of the family, who the brothers do not see as often. So nice to share a meal and chat for a while.

The following weekend, since Julianne had a Ped Day on the Friday, we went to Kingston to see Natasha, Scott, Finn and Aida, who also had a Ped Day on the Friday. We stopped on the way for lunch at a restaurant in Prescott, Ontario that actually had gluten-free lunch options (!) and also an electric car plug-in station close by.

For Julianne, Kingston visits means time with Aida, Finn and  their hot tub and their trampoline!

We went to a Christmas Fair at MacKinnon Farm in Bath, where we decorated cookies, bought gifts, drank coffee and hot cocoa and enjoyed the festive atmosphere. Magical!

We accept all cookies, even those missing limbs!

Julianne, Aida & Finn

Taking advantage of the fact that Finn is now old enough to stay alone at home and take care of the girls, we went out to a restaurant with Sarah (Katrine and Natasha's friend from University) and her boyfriend Chris, whom Katrine had not met before. What a feast! We ducked into a pub (The Royal Tavern) to hear Chris' work friends play in a band for a little while. Their group, "Anything Goes", played Rock music cover songs that has us singing and dancing! We had so much fun, and the kids were asleep when we got home, having had a great night themselves.

Before leaving on Sunday, we went walking at Lemoine Point, where there are many walking paths, and SO many birds and squirrels!! We fed chickadees and the odd nuthatch from our hands, and observed the largest squirrels we had ever seen! (probably very well-fed squirrels)
