Pâques à Gatineau, visite à Kingston et la Fête des mères

Le long weekend de Pâques nous a donné une belle excuse pour une sortie à Ottawa / Gatineau. Nous sommes allés visiter le musée Des Sciences et Technologies du Canada:

The Easter long weekend was a nice opportunity for a road trip to Ottawa/Gatineau to see the Science and technology museum and to see Nicolas' brother Philippe. Here are some shots from the museum:

Après la visite et un bon souper chez Pacini, nous sommes allés profiter de la piscine de notre hotel (Best Western Gatineau), avant une bonne nuit de sommeil. On a même pu charger l'auto à même le stationnement de l'hôtel (sur une borne de niveau 1, mais quand même!)

After the museum visit and a restaurant supper, we went to our hotel pool before turning in for the night. We even charged the car outside while we slept (they didn't have a special plug for an electric car as advertised, but never mind....).

Pour Pâques, on est allé luncher avec la famille de Philippe, ce qui nous a donné l'occasion de voir sa nouvelle maison. Philippe a même organisé une petite chasse aux cocos pour Julianne!

We visited Philippe and his family, in Philippe and Chantal's new house on the water. They even organized  an egg hunt for Julianne, and of course, Banjo (Noémie's dog) was the hit of the party! 

Julianne a eu le droit le lendemain à une autre chasse aux cocos, chez Nana et Grand Papa cette fois. Chanceuse!

Lucky girl, Julianne had more chocolate eggs to find at Nana and Grand-papa's house the next day!

La fin de semaine suivante, notre 'road trip' nous a permis de visiter nos amis Natasha et Scott  à Kingston. Nous avons visité Kingston, bien mangé, fait des promenades au parc, et pour Julianne, beaucoup de trampoline avec Finn et Aida! Et c'est sans compter les soirées dans le spa!

The next weekend, another road trip brought us to Kingston to see Natasha and Scott. We ate, we walked a LOT outside, we went in the hot tub, and Julianne basically abandoned us to spend time with Aida and Finn, her pretend-siblings. 

Juste avant la Fête des Mères, des aventures dehors! Nicolas est allé se ressourcer en randonnée pédestre à Rigaud et en vélo de Montagne au Cap Saint-Jacques avec Renaud, et le nous sommes allés en famille nous balader à observer les oiseaux (et les chiens!) à l'Arboretum Morgan. 

Leading up to Mother's Day, some adventures outdoors, starting with Nicolas hiking in Rigaud, Nicolas and Renaud doing some biking on Friday and an Arboretum walk as a family (Julianne got to see a LOT of dogs!)

Il s'appelle Jack et il porte une cravate. Le propriétaire du chien voyait que Julianne voulait vraiment rencontrer Jack, donc il l'a mis sur le banc avec elle.
His name is Jack and he's wearing a tie. His owner could see that Julianne really wanted to meet Jack, so he placed him on the bench with her.

Et finalement pour clore le weekend de la Fête des Mères, nous sommes allé à Baie-d'Urfé porter des pâtisseries aux parents de Katrine avant d'aller pique-niquer au bord de l'eau, puis nous sommes allé rejoindre Philippe et Renaud au cimetière Mont-Royal, où Louise est enterrée.

And on Mother's Day, a picnic by the water, a visit to Nana and Grand-Papa to bring pastries and say hello, and a visit to Louise's grave on Mount Royal.

Semaine de relâche :)

 C'est la semaine de relâche ! Julianne a eu son carnaval d'hiver vendredi, son dernier jour d'école. Katrine et les autres membres du comité de planification avaient travaillé tellement fort, pour se faire annuler leur Carnaval pour une tempête de neige. Prise 2 a eu lieu une journée venteuse et froide, mais les enfants se sont amusés quand-même.

It's School Break this week! It started with a Winter Carnival on the Friday before the week off. Katrine and the Planning Committee worked so hard, only to see their Carnival cancelled for a Snow Day. The rescheduled event took play on a windy, cold day, but the children had fun anyway. 

Avec la belle neige que nous avons reçu, nous sommes allé faire du ski de fond (et il ne faisait pas froid du tout!).

With all the nice snow that had fallen, we went cross-country skiing. It was not cold at all (notice Julianne is not wearing her hat!). 

Mardi, nous sommes parti pour Sherbrooke. Premier arrêt: Une visite chez Caroline, l'amie de Katrine.

We decided to take a short trip to the city of Sherbrooke, because we had a few things that we wanted to do there. First stop: seeing Katrine's friend and former colleague, Caroline, with her two children, Benjamin and Zoey. 

Puis, spectacle interactif Les grandes découvertes (démonstrations sur la chimie, l’électricité, l’air et la lumière) au Musée de la nature et des sciences de Sherbrooke, que nous avons ensuite visité. 

Then, we went to the Science and Nature Museum, which was offering special shows for children on March Break. We saw a very interesting show on electricity, chemistry, air and light. Then, we saw their current exhibits, which included a participation component for the kids with an iPad to answer questions. 

Nous avons souper au Pacini (qui nous ont offert le dessert puisque le service était lllllloooooonnnngggg!

We ate supper at Pacini, an old favourite. Service was slow, but the food was good and we left just in time to go back and enjoy the hotel pool before bed!

Et finalement, arrivée au Grand Times Hotel, où nous avons bien profité de la piscine! Puis avant le dodo, Nicolas est allé mettre l'auto sur la charge sur une borne de recharge publique à quelques pas de l'hotel pour que la batterie soit pleine pour la journée suivante. 

The pool at the Grand Times Hotel was warm and we had it all to ourselves! Nicolas went to plug in our car at a nearby charging station and then we all went to bed to recharge our own batteries!

Finalement, pour notre dernière activité, de la glissade sur tube à la base de plein air André-Nadeau

And our last activity during this wonderful trip was tubing at Andreé-Nadeau Nature Park (it was a lot like our Forestiers park at home, with tubing, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing options on offer).

Nous avons terminé notre semaine de relâche au chalet de Sylvie à Saint-Sauveur avec la famille de Renaud: Glissade, raquette, ski de fond, jeux de société, fêter Natacha et Jérôme, projection de film, bref on s'est bien amusé!

We finished our week off with a weekend at a cottage in the Laurentians with Renaud and his family: sliding, skiing, snowshoeing, playing games, reading, celebrating Jerome and Natacha's birthdays, watching movies.... so much fun!
